I just want to see how much traffic I get writing about Ron Paul. I’ve read several posts lately where people are flipping out both in support of Ron Paul and against him. The media doesn’t pay attention to the man because he doesn’t politic with the usual suspects and because he’s seen as a “radical.” We greet all change with suspicion in America, so his ideas to do away with several federal institutions simply make most people few him as loopy, although his ideas make sense and are backed by the Constitution.
I’ve yet to run into the “Ron Paul zombies” his detractors always talk about, but maybe I’ll meet some through this post. I’ve seen more anti-Ron Paul post lately, but most hate him because his supporters are supposedly irritating people on the Internet. I’m not sure how that works. I could understand if they were on your front lawn or calling on the phone every five seconds, but ignoring someone on the computer is relatively easy.
The latest is that he accepted money from a known white supremacist in Florida. Link I even read that he is supported by people who want to rewrite the Constitution into a “Soviet manifesto.” Wow. I never knew libertarians were closet communists. I always thought that was the democrats. Link
I like a lot of what Paul has to say: smaller government, fewer federal bureaucracies, less foreign aid, more state’s rights. However, I realize the man is not perfect. He’s a politician. All the other candidates sound the same. They have similar solutions to the country’s problems, which ultimately mean keeping the status quo and creating more federal programs (i.e. no real solutions).
Maybe a communist, white supremacist, extraterrestial, zombie maker, radical can shake things up enough to make people want to really fix things. Or not.
